My furnace stopped working and it's below zero — what do I do first?
Check the thermostat batteries and the breaker, then make sure the furnace switch (it looks like a light switch near the unit) wasn't bumped off. If it still won't fire, call — no-heat visits get priority routing in winter, and we'll walk you through safe steps while a tech heads over.
How often does a furnace or AC actually need a tune-up?

Is a heat pump realistic in Minnesota winters?
Modern cold-climate heat pumps heat efficiently well below zero and pair with a gas furnace as backup — many Twin Cities homes run dual-fuel for the best of both. Whether it fits your house depends on insulation, ductwork, and your current equipment; that's a one-visit assessment.
Repair or replace — how do you decide?
A useful rule: if the repair costs more than a third of replacement and the system is past 12–15 years, replacement usually wins. We show you the repair price and the replacement math side by side and recommend the cheaper path over the system's remaining life — in writing.

How long does a furnace or AC replacement take?
Most single-system replacements are done in one day: morning removal, afternoon install, commissioning, and a walkthrough of the new thermostat before we leave. Dual-system or ductwork jobs can run two.
Why is my second floor always hotter than downstairs?
Usually airflow and balancing, not a broken system — long duct runs, closed dampers, or an undersized return. A balancing visit measures room-by-room and fixes the airflow before anyone tries to sell you new equipment.
